creating Time & Expense entry / reporting system

We are running SBS 2003 with Exchange, Outlook 2003, & Sharepoint.

Just starting to browse and read about Outlook & Sharepoint with regard
to creating forms, applications, etc...
But don't even know what questions to ask as yet,
or which application might be able to satisfy our quest.

We would like to create something online to have our small staff
be able to enter the usual :
time on projects
travel expenses
project status

Then have it recorded and create invoices,
or potentially feed something like Quickbooks.

We are not even sure where to start asking questions,
since the first step is just gaining some very basic knowledge
about each of the components... just started with a book on Sharepoint.

Any high level ideas, concepts, pointers
would be helpful and much appreciated at this point...

Also seen in the WSS newsgroup.

Please in future post a single message to a single SharePoint newsgroup to
avoid duplicate effort.

In this case your SBS 2003 includes (a version of) WSS 2.0 and not SPS 2003
so this Portal Server newsgroup is completely wrong for this question in any
case.
