Creating/Using a new template

Hello,
I am reviewing/editing technical documents for which, the contents have come
from varied sources, thus containing almost a hundred different styles.
Now, I have created a new teplate as per our business requirements, and want
to migrate the content from this existing document into the new template.
In the new template, I have customized the Styles option to view only the
required styles, from whatever is available. Buf, everytime I take the
content and add it to the new template, the inherent style is also added to
the template.
How do I get only the content from an existing document, without inheriting
the associated styles?
I know I could take the content first to Notepad and then bring them into
Word, but this is proving too tedious as the documents are voluminous.
Any help onthis is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Two suggestions: Try to use your format painter to copy the correct format
onto the text from the other doc. If that doesn't work, you can try to
remove the formatting from the text by highlighting it, clicking on your
styles button (the double A) and selecting "clear formatting." Then you can
again try to use the format painter or just create the correct format from
scratch.

I'd suggest using the Paste>Special options. Don't simply use CTRL+V to paste
the contents into your template. Use the Edit menu >Paste Special option, and
choose "Unformatted Text" on the options dialog. This has the same effect as
the transfer through Notepad you mentioned, but without the tedious step. You
may need to reapply the formatting (or transfer it piecemeal), but it
shouldn't bring any of the old formatting with the text.
