Creating web page with shared borders

Hi,
I am creating a web page with my friend. Since we are kind of new to
making web pages we aren't quite sure how to go about it. Our layout is
borders on the top, left, right and bottom of the page, and info in the
middle. We want the content inside these borders to appear on every other
page, so we tried using Shared Borders. However, there was no HTML in the
HTML view for the content inside the shared borders. We are adding things
such as polls into the borders, and therefore we need to paste HTML in. But
where?
Maybe there could be another way instead of using shared borders. I've
tried using frames, but they don't work out. Tables are a bit of a mess
because the cursor is always in the middle; it won't go to the top no matter
what I try. If someone knows how to get the cursor up to the top left of a
cell then I could probably use tables.
Would there be any other better alternative? I think that I can use a
shared border for the banner at the top since we won't need to code anything
into that anyway, but as for everything else...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

*** Look for the _borders folder if it's not visible hit tools/ web
settings/ advanced tab/ check the "show hidden folders" checkbox.

left/ top for positioning.

If someone knows how to get the cursor up to the top left of a

cell then I could probably use tables.

*** since you're going to use tables, why not put "include pages" insert/
web component/ include content/ page and browse to the page you want to
include. this will give you much easier maintenance and avoid the shared
borders (which should be avoided!)

Would there be any other better alternative? I think that I can use a
shared border for the banner at the top since we won't need to code anything
into that anyway, but as for everything else...

*** Beyond the things I've mentioned you may want to look for a FrontPage
web template. some are free and some are not but by using one you'll get
hundreds of hours worth of work done for you and you can concentrate on a
nice bunch of content. you can find non-free ones at www.pixelmill.com and
search for them on google or msn search. make sure it's not just a web
template but a FrontPage web template.

Which version of FrontPage?
With FrontPage 2003, I would use a Dynamic Web Template, and forget shared
borders completely.

To see the HTML in a shared border, use Tools->Web Settings->Advanced tag,
tick the box "Show hidden files and folders"
Click OK, and refresh the web site.
The border files are in the _borders folder.

A better option is to use include files in a table structure.

To move the curser to the top left of a table, set the cell alignment
properties - right click in the cell, choose properties. Set Horizontal and
Vertical alignment to Left and Top respectively.
