Critical path in Project 2003

Hi
Is there any way you can define the critical path in project ie. can you
tell project which task you want it to calculate the critical path from. I am
working on a large project and have tasks in our schedule that are continuing
post Go Live but want to be able to see the critical path to our Go Live
date. Currently, I am only able to see the critical path to the last date in
the schedule (which is 1 year post our Go Live date).
Thanks
Ange

The CP is not defined by the user, but by a calculation done based on
the durations and links you enter. You can't tell the software to make
task x the CP.

However, if your project isn't too large, you can look at the tasks
along the path to your Go Live final task/milestone and the ones with
the least slack would be the CP if Go Live were the end of the
project.

Hope this helps in your world.

Set a must finish on constraint on the Go Live date that is 1 day prior to
when it would normally end. This will create negative slack on all tasks
leading to this task and you can easily filter for it.

Another way is to download and use my "Trace" macro here:
