Critical Update for Office 2003 always fails

Danny KC

When I try to update my Office 2003 with the current
critical update, the installation always fails even
though the download went perfectly well. I do have
Symantec's Norton AntiVirus 2004 which prompts me to
allow a virus-scan to proceed, but that always goes well.
Any ideas or is this just a bad critical update release
for Office 2003?

Disable Norton and see if it will complete.

I'm having the same problem. I disabled NAV 2004 (and NIS 2004), and
still have the problem. If I download the update files manually and execute
the .exe, it works without a hitch. I'm seeing the problem on two different
computers, both running NAV and NIS, as well as Office 2003.

As a given, I HAVE disabled NAV 2004 (the very first
time) and am still unable to make the update install
complete successfully. What gives? Are these bad install
updates, as I see others are having the same
frustrations? I guess we will see what happens when MS
fixes (or tests and replaces) the updates using a machine
that is loaded with NAV 2004.

Thanks for all your help regarding,

Well I just tried installing the Office 2003 updates on a
clean install laptop with no anti-virus program yet
installed and the updates still failed.

This is an obvious MS update file problem which needs to
be fixed and re-released by Microsoft.
