Critical updates breaks Outlook Add-Ins

NinuX

We have developed an Outlook Add-In which was working perfectly until one of
our customers downloaded and installed the 2 updates mentioned below

I debugged the Extensibility.IDTExtensibility2.OnConnection handler and
found that the application.Name parameter is now "Microsoft Word" instead of
"Outlook" !!!

That explains why out add-in does not load, it thinks it is running inside
Word !

Does any one know any reason or issues with these updates that would affect
Outlook in this manner ?

The updates are

1. Update for Outlook 2003:p Junk e-mail filter (KB 921587) OUTLFLTR

2. Update for Office 2003 (KB 919029) LCCWIZ

Is it safe to uninstall these updates from Control Panel / Add-Remove
programs ?

Thanks

You can remove them, but there may be something else wrong. I have both
installed here and none of my VB6 addins were affected.

Check in the registry under what Office application or applications the
addin is registered. It can only be started by Word if registered under
\Software\Microsoft\Office\Word\ in either HKCU or HKLM.
