Crop marks

My word documents suddenly have some grayed out crop
marks (small lines in the 4 corners of the page)
horizontal and vertical. How do I get rid of them?

I have also come across these marks and don't know how to
get rid of them. They appear on the screen, and when I
print. Odd little 90 degree angle showing the outside
margins of the page.

Dan,

I found the answer to the problem in an earlier post. I
would like to thank Graham Mayor for providing it to us.

Here it is.

They are page layout marks associated with Asian
languages and are similar to crop marks. You need to
disable support for Asian languages before they will go
away. If you need Asian language support you'll have to
put up with them.

To remove them do the following.

(Windows > Start > Programs > Microsoft Office > Office
Tools > Microsoft Office language support)

The answer in this discussion for removing those marks is
absolutely correct.

My question is - how did they get there in the first
place???

Most likely you pasted something from a Web page created by someone using an
Asian language. Even though the text may have been in English, using the
western alphabet, it may have been created in an Asian font (or something).
I know I occasionally click on a perfectly ordinary-looking English NG post
or Web page and get asked by OE or IE if I want to install support for x
language. I always say no, but I believe there's a "Yes, and don't ask me
again" check box. If you had checked that, then support might be installed
without your being aware of it.
