Cross Dependencies

In Project Server 2003, is it possible to establish cross dependency links
like we have been doing in Microsoft Project? If not, what feature does
Project Server have to take the place of establishing links among project
schedules?

Another option from the one Dale presents is using external links in either
the Predecessors or Successors filed for the tasks you want to link.
1. Open both projects in Project Server you want to link tasks
2. Open the Task Information dialog box click on the Predecessor tab.
3. In the ID column type the project name and ID number of the external
predecessor
4. Format: <>projectname.published/42 (<> are empty and contain no
information; projectname.published is the name of the project and 42 is the
ID number for the predecessor task)
By default you are notified if data in an externally linked project has
changed. The impact to your schedule is displayed when you open a project
with external links and allows you to accept any or all changes.

Hope this helps.

Unfortunately, the impact on your project isn't shown. What it does
show is the change to the external link.

What would be great is for project to show what the impact to your
project is from the change of the external link.

Any hints?

If the other project is updated and changed and then you open your project
you can tell project to apply any changes from the other project and it does
show the impact to your project.

Agreed, but this is only after you accept the changes, not before. It
would be great from a user perspective because you can see the impact

Accepting the changes doesn't save them until you save your project unless
you've turned on autosave.

Kevin,

do you know if there is a way to DENY the change caused by external project.

I know one can delete the link
