Cross-functional flowchart troubles

When I open a new cross-functional flowchart, the pop-up
dialog box doesn't appear anymore (it did once or twice,
randomly). This may (or may not) be the cause of other
problems: shapes don't stay within their bands when the
bands are moved, no initial diagram appears (with bands and
heading)--I have to drag the bands onto the blank page. I
follow the directions to the letter, but nothing happens as
they say it should.

What version of Visio are you using?

One thing to try is to go into Tools > Options, then Advanced if you version
of Visio is 2002 or older, Security if it's 2003. When you get there, make
sure the checkbox next to "Enable Automation events" is checked.
