Cross functional flowcharts

I'm trying to create a cross functional flowchart mapping a process that
includes drafting documents and doing reviews. Reviews occur across
deifferent departments at different stages. How do I show processes that
occur across several departments? E.g. I have 5 bands for 5 different
departments. How do I show an event (e.g. a meeting) occuring across 1,3 and
5 at the same time? Then later another event occurs across bands 2, 4 and 5?
