Cross-Language Date Codes in Projects?

F

F. Lang

Hello everyone,

seems I hit upon an odd problem with date codes in Project
2003 (and I'm unsure about other versions).

My computers language code is set to US-English
(international company - makes printing dates that much
easier in correspondence), yet Project only seems to
partially accept Windows standards.

In detail: The Start (and End) Dates in my projects are
listed as Fre, (<- sic!) 2/27/04 - an odd match of German
weekday codes (Mon, Die, Mit, Don, Fre, Sam, Son) and
English date codes (mm/dd/yy).

While I was hoping for a way to see fully english coded
dates (Fri 2/27/04), I'd already be happy about any ideas
on how to set this to _one_ language.

Thanks in advance for ideas

Hi F,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

You nees to re-set the International settings in the Windows Control Panel -
Regional and Language dialog. That's the only way I know of that will
change the dates format to the US style.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: <http://www.mvps.org/project/>

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :))

Hello again,

after rereading my previous post - that probably was the
answer I should have expected. The problem is that I did
set my international settings to US.

Windows (that is: control panel and date) does pretend to
show dates in the right format (Thu, 04/19/2004), yet
Project does not.

After rechecking.. that same problem does not really
appear in Word (I can choose the format there) or Excel
(where it works).

Seems only the Start and End "Weekday" timecode in Project
doesn't like me (or my devious schedule ... hmm.. ).

For now.. thanks for the welcome, and keep the ideas
coming.

Did you install the English language version of Project or the German one?

I dread where this is headed .. I did install the German
version - not that there is much choice.

I suspect an easy switchable date-code-tool is not
included ...?

I don't know the answer to your problem with a mixed international language.
I can only suggest you contact your local MS support office.
