Cross platform compat.

I am using FP2003. I have all items on pages positioned absolutely. When I
review site in multiple browsers, other screen resolutions and on 4 other
computers, site layout looks perfect. When site is viewed by another person
on her home computer (using Explorer & page size 800x600) layout is off.
Items that I have positioned absolutely do not appear as they should on her
screen. (Also, when she looks at the pages on a Mac, layout is off as well).
I am not sure what else to try or do, since I am a relatively new user. I
understand cross-platform compatibility is not 100% but if layout looks right
on the tests I run through FP2003, what else am I missing? Any and all input
would be VERY helpful!

Well CKK4602, you've pretty much answered your own question.

The major issue with using absolute positioning is exactly what you're seeing.
Different browsers render it in different ways.
Some don't even support it at all.

OK. I am using a layout table as well. Should I just get rid of absolute
positioning and let the layout table determine the look? Or even better yet,
could there be a setting on her computer that is causing the site to look
off? (I only ask this because on every other computer it is viewed on & the
tests I run in FP all have the site looking as it should). She is using IE as
browser.
Thanks!

CKK4602,

I am new to web design and also using FP2003. Did you ever get an answer to
the question as to how to handle cross-platform issues? I am just about to
publish a website and I'm wondering what problems this will cause MAC users
when viewing.

I'm already concerned because I'm using Yahoo Web Hosting. I asked if they
had FP2003 extensions on their servers and I was told that they did. Upon
calling about a publishing error I find out that some of the 2003 components
are not installed. I'm waiting to see if this is problematic for this web
site.

There are no FP2003 extensions, only FP2002 extensions, and FP2003 support everything that FP2002
offered. However each web host can choose to enable / disable certain features/functions of the FP
extensions
