Cross platform problem with shadows

I'm rather new to PPT so please bare with me if the solution is
simple. I'm MAC using MAC 2004 and a lot of the PPT I design is being
used on a PC (vers 2007). I'm having 2 poblems on the PC side. It's
staright forward text over an imported background.
#1. I have the text shadow set to 9 softeness, off set 5 with no
transparancy. When they open the PPT on the IBM (vers 2007) the
shadows are hard without a trace of blur and they can't even seem to
acces the shadow function to try and change it.
#2. Any time I have an animation delay for text for fade, on the PC
side the shadow for the text is continually "popping" on hard and
black (no dissolve at all) and then the text fades in on split second
later.

Why and more importanly how do I stop this from happening for them.

Older versions of PPT on Windows, the ones that share the file format you'd be
saving in, don't have soft shadows, so they would all turn to hard ones on PC
verions previous to 2007.

The new 2007 format does allow for all kinds of shadow effects; not sure why
your PC users can't get at them, but I have a guess ... when they open the old
file format in 2007, it'll go into compatibility mode (ie, keeps the data in
the old format, disallows changes that would require the new format).

Suggest that they open the file, do a Save As and specify the normal PPT format
rather than the older version. They may then be able to use PPT 2007's shadow
features.

Could this also be related to the new graphics engine used in 2007? I've
seen a number of similar issues in Word groups.

Part and parcel of the same thing, I'd expect.

I wouldn't be surprised if they later add the ability to translate Mac PPT's
shadows into something more appropriate when opening the files in 2007, since it's
more than capable of rendering the advanced features.

It does actually seem to pick up all but the soft-edge attribute; you can go into
the shadow dialog, change the setting (called "Blur" in PPT 2007) and come up with
a pretty good representation of what you get on the Mac.

And with it that simple, I'd think this is on the order of an SP fix.
