cross reference truncating

Is it possible without using any vba to truncate a cross
reference item

example - a text form field entry shows 1234567-01 I want
the cross reference field to show 1234567

thanks

If you add the \# "#" formatting switch to the { REF } field, you will get
1234566 (Mathematically, 1234567 - 01 = 1234566) probably not what you
wanted?

If you use vba, you can use the Left() and Instr() functions to get the
1234567
