Cross Reference

I am working a modest size document which is going to have a
configuration sheet. The whole document is auto-numbered with
heading. What I want to find is some vba which will go though the
whole document and create a table of paragraph numbers and paragraph
titles. I will then by hand be adding additional text to the table,
therefore, I can not use the TOC function.

I want to do this using cross references, as over time there will be
additional paragraphs which will change the numbering. I am not
worried about adding the additions by hand. I just do not want to
try to do the whole thing by hand.

Thanks for any help available.

Why not start with a TOC and then unlink it so that it becomes ordinary
text?

I will give this a try in the morning, but I think TOC will give me
what I have now, but will not be cross referenced so numbering will
update if I add new heading.

Thank you

You should make the modifications on a copy of the document so that if the
content is subsequently updated, you would do that on the original and once
again, make a copy of the original to make the modifications.
