Cross-Reference

Two-part Question:

1) When I insert cross-references and I switch from Figure to Table, for
example, the "Insert reference to:" defaults to "Entire Caption." I want
"only label and number." Is there a way to make the default "only label and
number for all reference types?"

2) When I insert multiple cross-references I keep the dialog box open. I'll
scroll down in the "For which caption:" window to, say, Table 2-1 and insert
it. When I try to insert another cross-reference (e.g., Table 2-2 with the
dialog box still) the "For which option:" scroll window pops back up to the
beginning, and I have to scroll back down the list. This is not a problem for
a short list, but I have over 100 figures to cross-reference, and I spend
most of my time scrolling down to find the next figure on the list.

Is there some way to stop the scrolling window from reverting to the
beginning of the list each time?

Thanks

Two-part answer :)

1) That's a bug. Each time the dialog box opens, it reverts to the
default. But if you leave the dialog open, it should hold the last format
used. Please use Help>Send Feedback to send a bug in on this.

2) This is a bug that was first reported in Word 97. They STILL haven't
fixed it.... Please use Help>Send Feedback to send in a separate bug for
this one too :)

Sorry!
