Cross-references problems

Hi,

has anyone encountered this wierd behaviour?

When I make a cross-reference in my text from an automatically
generated numbered list, I want to use the "Paragraph Number (no
context)" method.

When I select the reference from the "Numbered Items" list I see in the
cross reference form (which are at the end of the list), Word always
puts the cross-reference of the first item at the top of the list
(instead of the item I just selected at the end).

The work around is to click a second time on "Insert" and the correct
paragraph number shows (and I just have to delete the unwanted
cross-reference)

Is there a way to make Word behave correctly for this or do I have to
stick with this?

I had not seen this behaviour before I upgraded to Tiger. I Have
Word:mac Version 11.1 (040910)

Haven't encountered it, but still on Panther.

I'm going to make a wild guess that you might not actually be selecting what
you think you are selecting. The cross-reference dialog has some screen
refresh issues. If you wait an extra-long time for it to load properly,
after you scroll down, do you still get the error?

Hi,

yeah, I was aware of that "refresh" problem. I just use it the same
way I did before:

Wait for all the refresh to be done,
scroll down,
select the numbered item I want,
and press "insert".

At the "insert" step, most of the time, I need to press it twice to get
the right cross-reference. If the "refresh" were not completely done, I
would need to re-select the cross-reference. (and I do not re-select
the cross-reference in this case)

At least I can still work around this, but it is quite annoying.

I don't know. Cross-posting to the MacWord group which gets more traffic
for extra input. [sorry, they'll have to read backwards!]
