I have one macro that generates equation numbers using autotext as suggested
in this forum. I added a new label, "(", so that I could do the insertion.
I also have a macro for cross referencing which types in "Equation" and
deletes the "(" so that text reads "Equation 9.3 " for example.
All is fine until I update the fields. The above cross reference then reads
"Equation (9.3 ". Chapters are in draft mode so there is much rearranging of
figures, tables and equations. I wish there was a "blank" label in Word 2002
so that I could add parenthesis when needed.
It appears that I need another macro just to do the updates. Although I
found help in updating fields I didn't find any help on how to check label of
field and edit text.
Could someone please offer some simple code to check fields and delete that
"(" in cross referencing?
Thanks for your help. I truly value the generous sharing of expertise given
