Is it possible to cross-reference 2 separate lists in Excel. For example: If I have one list of registered voters (names, addresses) and a second list of fishing permit holders (names, addresses), can I cross-reference those lists to find out which names and or addresses are common to both lists? (The ultimate result = voters in fishing permit households). I'd like to target certain demographics from a litany of existing databases. Is this possible?

Hi,

If you show us your data layout we could give you a detailed solution. For
example, Name and Address - in one column, or 2, 3, 4, or maybe 5 columns >
Street, City, State, Country, Zip. First and Last names in one column, with
the addresses, or each in their own column?

The general approach is to use VLOOKUP or MATCH. Address or Name matches
are notoriouosly dangerous because of the chance for misspellings.

Hi again,

Also depending on your data layout you might be able to use COUNTIF or if
you are using 2008 COUNTIFS. And finally there is SUMPRODUCT.
