cross slide counting?

Hello All, I have a presentation in which on several slides numbers in a
standard place holder are being updated frequently (edited in 'Normal
mode'). On the final slide it would be nice if the 'over all grand total'
would be presented.

So, is it possible to have a kind of 'cross slides counting'? (and when new
slides are inserted in between the counted slides, that those are taken into
total account automatically?)

Thanx!

Sure, it is something for me, it just is not the solution I am looking
for...

I need a kind of Excel calculator across PowerPoint slides....I think...

but thanks anyway!

You could delete the slide number placeholder from all master slides then
create an additional master slide that does have the placeholder. Apply this
to the last slide using Format | Slide Design and choose that from the "used
in this presentation" part of the task pane.

Then use View | Header and Footer and tick the box to show the slide number.
Also tick the "don't show on title" box.

This should apply a slide number to only the last slide, at which point the
total number of slides would show.

Thanks Echo, but it is not the slide number, nor the number of slides I want
to count.

I want to make a calculation of the sum of certain numbers (data) that are
typed in by hand in 'normal mode' in place holders on certain slides in a
presentation, and have the sum presented on the final slide.

So, a calculation of the sum of those numbers that are typed throughout the
whole presentation.

....hope this question is more clear...or am I asking something weird...?..

Thanx All,
Guurt

Ah, that makes it more clear. I completely didn't understand what you were
asking.

PowerPoint doesn't have anything like this. I don't know if it's doable with
VBA or not. Probably is, but I'm not a coder, so I couldn't even tell you
how to begin.

You know, I wonder if PPTMerge might work here. Basically, you'd type all
the stuff into Excel, then populate textboxes in PPT with that information.
