Crosstab query does not recognize field names?

I created an SQL query that works fine it uses 2
variables 'from-date' and 'to-date'. When I run the query
I am prompted for the 2 dates.

I created a crosstab query which used the sql query as
input. However when I run the crosstab query, it
says "Microsoft Jet does not recognize 'from-date' as a
valid field name or expression".
Anyone know what the problem is?
