What is a .CSV file and how can I open it on a mac using Excel? Thanks!

..CSV stands for "Comma Separated Values", a type of text file:

You can open .csv files in XL by dragging the csv file onto the XL
application icon, or by using File/Open (you may need to change the
"Enable:" dropdown in the Open dialog to "All documents").

You can also import the data into a workbook using Data/Get External
Data/Import Text file, then choosing Delimited in the 1st page of the
Text Import Wizard, and comma in the 2nd.
