Okay, so I've read on a couple sites how CTFMON is
annoying and doesn't need to run, etc. But everytime I
restart my computer, and AOL Instant Messanger begins to
load I get the "Windows Installer" and "Please Wait While
Configuring Office XP with FrontPage" or something to
that effect. Then when I open a new program like IE, it
does it again. I looked in the "Event Viewer" in Admin
Tools and I got this message:
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MsiInstaller
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1004
Date: 6/18/2004
Time: 11:25:36 AM
User: N/A
Computer: LIZO
Description:
Detection of product '{90280409-6000-11D3-8CFE-
0050048383C9}', feature 'CiceroFiles',
component '{D3146E44-B39F-4D61-93CD-07241D982881}'
failed. The resource 'C:\WINDOWS\System32\CTFMON.EXE'
does not exist.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
So I followed the directions on Microsoft's website to
disable CTFMON.exe. The "Windows Installer" stopped
popping up on startup, but then certain things stopped
working like my extra audio inputs on my front panel. I
need the audio inputs for recording purposes, but that
installation every startup gets immensely annoying.
Thanks for any help anyone can give.
