In the shortcuts like CTRL+P and CTRL+C the P and C stand for Print and Copy.
What does the V in CTRL+V stand for?

Hi Elric,

When editing a paper document with pen and ink a down pointing
caret showed the location of an insert. The caret looks like
the letter 'V', which was selected for the 'Insert here' key
combination of Ctrl+V.
