ctrl+z

I accidentally pressed ctrl+z. My whole document disappeared leaving me with
a blue screen in Word, and I had not saved it yet. Can I get it back?

Ctrl+Z is Undo. Have you tried using Redo?

If you havenÿt closed the document, you can try pressing ´Ctrl+Y¡.

Ctrl+Z, by default, undoes a single change. If your whole document
disappeared when undoing a single change, it must have been created with a
single change - a Paste, perhaps - in which case you haven't lost much work.

However, I don't know what you mean when you say you were left with a blue
screen - do you mean you had no documents left open? I don't believe thats
possible from a default Ctrl+Z action. Perhaps you could give more detail?

Thank you to everyone for answering my question. What does ctrl +AZ do? I
had closed the document, but word kept running. I have since shut it down, I
tried so many different things last night to find it, but I know nothing
about computers...I'm hopeless.

Check the Undo list to see what you actually did do. If you had used Ctrl+A,
Z, you would have selected the entire document and replaced it with the
letter z. If so, then Ctrl+Z would Undo that action.
