Hi

It does not work. With Ctrl-: I can enter the current time.
Any ideas?

Sorry -

It's too late for an old man to be playing with electronic devices :) It
should be just the reverse...

Control+; enters the Date
Shift+Control+; enters the Time

Also, Cmd+; will enter the Time as well.

I see
I bought a book about excel and there they say
Ctrl-. enters the date.
So this is a difference between Excel Windows and Excel Mac.

But to clarify this:
Ctrl+; enters the date in my case
Ctrl+: enters the time

Maybe it's because I am on a swiss keyboard layout.
Getting ; and : I need too press Ctrl-Shift-, or
Ctrl-Shift-.

Weird

Hi Kay -

Ctrl+. (period) doesn't do anything in 2003 *or* 2004 - perhaps it was an
error or typo in the book? XL Help for both PC & Mac versions say the same
Nope, i t worked on my Win Excel in my office.
thing -

€ CONTROL+; (semicolon) Enter the date
€ CONTROL+SHIFT+: (colon) Enter the time Weird

I understand Kybd layout can definitely make a difference, but I've never
used anything but U.S.
I am sure you did not ;-)
And surely not a swiss one at all ;-)

Hi
it is not true actually ;-)
I opened my german windows based Excel and it says
in the help that you are true.
But it simply works.
It only work if I put my win excel on
english. If I put it on Germany
those combinations do not work as expected.
Other short cuts as well.
So MS did not achieve to make it according to the
language it is configured. So buying a book
about excel might be a bit funny.
;-)
