currency and decimal point

I need to change the default currency from euro to $ , i change the settings
in the "international" preferences on my control panel (OS), but excel still
using the euro currency. The same thing with the decimal point, excel use a
coma instead a point.

Somebody can tell me how to fix this.

After you change your International settings, you'll need to quit and
restart XL for the changes to take effect. XL loads the settings when it
starts up, changing them in System Preferences doesn't let XL know
you've changed.
