I am having issues with Office - particularly Excel, changing currency signs to $. I am in the UK and would like the default to be the £ sign.

Is there a setting I can use to change this?

Many Thanks,

Hi I was just typing a similar question as I am having exactly the same problem. It sounds like it could be a fault. I too would appreciate any help from the folks out there.

Yes, it is a known bug, and there is a fix for it in Service Release 12.1.0
which is due out any minute.

The issue is that in ANSI, the "Currency Symbol" is the same code number,
regardless of what character it displays. In Unicode, of course, each
currency sign has its own glyph.

The fix causes Excel to remember which "language" each cell is in, and thus,
which Unicode character it should use for the currency symbol.

Hope this helps
