Current Date/Time

I used CTRL SHIFT T to enter current Date/Time, thinking it was like
CTRL : in Excel. This combination apparently has created a rfield
that updates with the current time when the file is opened (This isnt
what I wanted) I wanted a static current date/time.. Is there anyway
to open the file without the field updating?

Press Alt+F9 to display the field code and edit the DATE or TIME field code
to CREATEDATE. Then F9 to update. The field will now display the date the
document was created and will not update further.

Well I was able to delete the fields and approximate the times I
needed. Is there a quick key that will just insert current date time
as text. In excel CTRL SHIFT and : gives current date and CTRL SHIFT ;
gives date and time. These are entered as static in excel.

You don't say what version of Word you have. There is a way to do it with
the keyboard, but the keystrokes depend on version.
