Curser sometimes will not highlight for editing -- how do I fix .

Hi! Sometimes when I'm trying to edit my documents the curser will not
hightlight the word or phrases that need to be edited. Another problem, I
can't hightlight a word or phrase to copy and past.

Even if I reboot I still have the problem. I seem to be able to work for a
while and then I have the problem.
