Cursor jumps to very beginning of page

I tried searching for any help on this and found a lot about the laptop touch
pad but I don't think this is the cause. Whenever I try to type on Word
2000, the cursor will jump to the very beginning of the page. It doesn't
jump anywhere else except for the very beginning. Does anyone have any ideas?

I have had the same problem from day one.
I use a mouse
I don't have speech recognition software

I don't consider it a "diagnosis" at this point for posters to ask:

1. "Are you using a laptop"?
2. "Do you have speech-recognition software loaded?"

This is clearly a larger problem than touchpad sensitivity or other
application incompatibility.
