Cursor line changes and won't change back

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel

Hi
Sometimes as I'm working, the cursor changes to the watch icon and stays that way no matter what. This makes it hard to mark text and do other chores. Any ideas?

Really, the *watch* icon? In Word 2008? Because when Word 2008 is
blocked and has to think, I'm pretty sure it puts up the spinning
beachball or nothing.

Anyhow, speed problems are intermittent--people report them but there's
no simple fix to it. But I'm not sure you are complaining about speed
problems--is Word temporarily frozen or is this just a cosmetic change?

Make sure Office is updated to 12.1.1 and OS X to 10.5.3 or the new
10.5.4. If you can identify a pattern to when Word does this, it might
be possible to offer some guesses.
