Hi -

I am using Word 2003 on W2K pro. I created a simple document template, but
when I open it, the cursor is not in the right place. It is up by the
header and I want it to be after the salutation of hte letter. I have tried

If it is "up by the header," this suggests that you've created your
letterhead in the document body. You don't want to do that. For the correct
way to set up a letterhead template, see
http://home.zebra.net/~sbarnhill/Letterhead.htm.

If you put a CreateDate field in the First Page Header along with the
letterhead, the date will also be out of the way, but your insertion point
will still be in the Inside Address. To put it after Dear, set a bookmark at
that position. Record a macro of going to that bookmark (if you've never
recorded a macro, see
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/MacrosVBA/UsingRecorder.htm) and name it
AutoNew. Whenever you create a document based on the template, the insertion
point will be at that bookmark.
