Cursor problems in microsoft office

Hi:

My cursor jumps all around when I am typing in any of the microsoft office
applications. It deletes things, opens up new applications, makes my
writing incoherent, etc. It makes emailing in entourage very difficult! I
have set the cursor preferences on my mac to ignore extraneous input, but
that hasn't solved the problem. Is there something corrupted in my
microsoft office that I don't know about? Any ideas would be helpful --
it's driving me crazy

This is not normal behavior. Create a new User in System Preferences. Open
Office applications and test. Does the behavior happen in the new User?

If not, then log into your regular User's account with Shift key down to
disable all startup applications. Does the problem still occur?

Diane:

First of all, I'm sorry for the multiple post about my cursor.

Second of all, thank you for your reply. I wasn't sure how to create a new
user in my system preferences. I could create a new account. Is this what
you meant?

I tried to log on with the shift key down. It seemed as though the cursor
skipped around less, but it still skips around. It looks like it flashes on
the screen somewhere else just before it jumps around (to that spot).

Is there something else I could try?

Many thanks.

Kathryn
