Cursor problems in OneNote

Why does the cursor move to wherever I left the pointer, regardless of
whether I'm in the middle of typing text? A few minutes after I begin
typing, the cursor will move to the pointer location and continue my typing
there. I'm in my first year of Law school, where we type furiously for over
an hour in each class. I need to be able to focus on what I'm typing, not
adjusting back and forth constantly. I've looked in the Control Panel for my
touchpad settings, options in One Note, and just can't seem to find where I
can command it to stay with the text until the touchpad is activated again.
This only happens in OneNote. Thanks for any help anyone can offer!

I would suspect that while you are typing, your palm hits the touchpad
and moves the cursor. You should disable tapping in your touchpad
settings (tapping means that you can simply tap the touchpad and get the
equivalent of a left mouse click).
