Cursor suddenly moves to new location while typing in Word or Outl

While typing the cursor suddenly jumps to a new location while I'm typing.
It seems to go to where the I-Bar is located. Anyone know of a fix for this?

I'm running Windows XP Professional and Office Professional Edition 2003.

Laptop touch pad and that might be the problem. I'm in the process of
acquiring a wireless keyboard and mouse. If they'll live with my cordless
phone that might be the solution. "That" being getting my hands away from
the touchpad.

In that case go into Touchpad properties and Decrease Sensitivity. That
way minor brushes of the surface won't be interpreted as a "tap"
