The cursor in Excel is a plus sign and is about two rows high. Any way to change it to the standard pointer? Is that what the rest of you see?

Those are normal. If you double click on a cell it magnifies, but then
when you tab or or return out of the cell it becomes normal size.

You can check the equation box in the view menu and you can enter
formula or items there, but unlike 2004 the formula bar doesn't have
anyway to click to accept or reject what's typed. To get out the only
way is hit tab or return. A Definite step back. I have both. And prefer
the menus and items on 2004. Would been perfect to left 2004 as it was
but converted it it over to the new docx format. we could find use stuff
a lot easier and faster even if you had to click on menu bar to find
certain items. Now they put stuff on a floating menu and it more complex
to do than 2004.

I'm reading your message a bit differently than Phillip did, but if you're
just referring to the size of the pointer relative to the height of the rows
it depends on what level of Zoom you're using. The pointer does resize when
you zoom in/out but only within a certain range. This is particularly true
if the zoom is set to less than 75% ‹ the pointer would be virtually
imperceptible if it got any smaller.

It's also possible, however, that your System Preferences have been
modified, so check System Preferences> Universal Access - Mouse & Trackpad.
