cusor disappears in publisher

In MS Publisher 2000. Approx every minute, my cursor disappears while
typing. I look at the monitor and characters I thought I typed aren't all
there and I dont see the cursor. Almost like it's autosaving, but I can't
figure out how to stop it. If I click the mouse where I want it, the cursor
reappears. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Are you using a notebook computer?
