Custom border art inactive since upgrading from XP to Vista

I can no longer create custom border art since moving from XP to Vista.
Anyone any idea?

Vista hasn't anything to do with creating Border Art. If the image is simple
enough you should be able to create a custom border. Its only when you try to
use a complex image that you will get an error.

Thanks for your reply. I've tried clip art that I've been able to use before
but get a 'Publisher cannot open this file' message. Previously when the
clip was not suitable it told me it was too big etc. It's annoying and I
can't get beyond it.

What is the format of the file? Do you have an associated program attached to
the file. For example if you double-click the image what program opens it?

Not sure what format it is. I just log on to border art and select clip. If
I double click on it it goes into search mode and says it can't find it. Is
it that the source has been moved?? It's so annoying as it worked
brilliantly before. Sorry I'm not much use to you but thanks for trying.

When you are asked about clipart is the *Use Clip Organizer to select picture*
checked?

Can you insert clipart from the Organizer?

C

Yes it is checked but no clip art can be inserted. The message appears that
I should give a name to the clip selected but once this is done the next
message says Publisher cannot open the file, then Publisher cannot complete
the operation. Previously I was able to create any border I wanted. I'm
running 2003 Office not 2007.

Does your Organizer work otherwise? I mean can you insert a clipart into a
Publisher publication?
Custom BorderArt can be created if the clipart is simple. Once you get into
complex objects the BorderArt balks.

It could be your Organizer is broken. Find Mstore10.mgc, rename it to
Mstore10.old.
It is in a folder similar to this:
C:\Users\<<user>>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Clip Organizer

My clip art seems fine. I do use it to put clip art ijnto a Publisher poster
etc. I renamed my mstore10 but still have the same pronlem. Even the
simplest clip won't open to crewate a border.

Do the clips you are trying to use have an yellow *x* in the corner of the
preview? If you browse to the clip can you create the border?

C

No there's no yellow X in the corner. And nothing I do allows me to create
the border. I opened an old poster with a border I'd custom made and the
clip used was automatically transferred to the clip list but I couldn't get
even that one to work on another poster. It's a mystery!!

Maybe a workaround? Insert your clipart, resize it small, copy/paste/position;
group it altogether.
