Custom captions

S

Sverre K.

In my company we use english Word 2003, but when I use captions for figures
and tables the only captions available are the norwegian Figur and Tabell
despite the fact that the document language is set to English UK (company
standard). OK. Then I make new captions Figure and Table and use them. I also
use cross-references to these captions in the text of the document.

The next time I open the document all my new custom captions have
disappeared and the cross-references gives an error message when updated.

My question is simply: Why don't my custom captions disappear, what shall I
do to make them stay?

Each installation of Word has three built-in caption labels; their actual
names depend on which language is defined for the Normal template.

When you create custom caption labels, they are stored in *your* normal.dot.
In other words, they will not be available if you send the document to
another computer/user (unless the same caption labels exist at that other
system).

However, the presence or absence of caption labels should not affect
existing cross-references. Is there a macro installed that manipulates the
document in some way?
