Custom Dictionary 'greyed out' after upgrade to Leopard

Yesterday I upgraded my husband's system to OS X 10.5.2. I then transferred all his network settings, files & folders using the Migration Assistant. When I opened Entourage all his emails etc. were missing so I copied across the 'Main Identity' from his backup and retrieved them all. So far so good, HOWEVER, my husband sends a lot of emails in Italian and had the MS Italian language Custom Dictionary. I know that this is located at ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Custom Dictionary so, as the new setup had a Custom Dictionary of 0KB I transferred/replaced all the Microsoft preferences in ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft with the preferences from his backup. This gave me a Custom Dictionary of 4KB but when I go to Entourage-Preferences-General Preferences-Spelling the location of the Custom Dictionary is as I've shown above, however, it is greyed out. When I click on the button and check the selection it remains greyed out and I can't access it.

Can anyone suggest what might be causing this? I would very much appreciate any help before I go down the route of uninstalling and re-installing just to get this to work!

Cheers
Tricia
