Custom Dictionary

I see where in Word to add a custom dictionary, but I have two questions I
can't figure out.

1. I want to add a dictionary (Random House Collegiate 4) on my hard disk to
the Word 2002 toolbar so it will be handier to use. I would prefer it as a
spellchecker too, but I don't think I can do that.

2. In any case it seems that the only custom dictionary that can be added is
one with a *.dic name. Where do these come from or are they all created from
scratch.

A custom dictionary is different from a dictionary add-in. A custom
dictionary is only for the purposes of spell checking. Your Random House
dictionary is for the purpose of looking up the meanings of words.

Thank you. Do you know how I can put an icon for my Random House dictionary
on the tool bar?

If it's intended to be integrated into Word, it should have done this
itself. If it was installed before Word, you might try reinstalling it.

And if neither is the case, you can probably still make a button that
runs the dictionary, by writing a one-line macro giving the dictionary
program's path in a Shell command and assigning that macro to a button.
Post back if it comes to that.
