Custom dictionary

I can't seem to 'Add' words to my custom dictionary in Word 2004. Had the
same problem in Word X. Anyone found a work-around?

For spell checking and to add words to the dictionary, the OS, Office,
Word, Paragraph Style and Paragraph language settings must be the same,
and the Custom Dictionary must have the same language setting, or have
the language set to "None".
