Custom Directory is Full - Error message?

OUTLOOK 2003 - I recently downloaded (after three attempts) SP3.
I noticed several email's went out with spelling errors.
I created a new email and ran Spellcheck, it said Spellcheck was not
installed, even though it had been working previously prior to SP3.
Messaged asked if I wanted to install, I said yes.. PC then rebooted.
When I created a new email and run spellcheck again it now indicates that
almost every word is underlined in red. simple words like "Yes", "Now" was an
error...!
I attempted to add the word "Now" to my custom directory and received a
message "CUSTOM DIRECTORY IS FULL"
Path C:\....\Application Data\Microsoft|Proof\Custom.DIC

The custom.dic is corrupt - delete it and let outlook make a new one.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/291176 - it should apply to all versions.
if you haven't tried detect and repair. yet, try it after deleting the
custom dic.

I have always used Word as my editor.
It use to work prior to downloading SP3
Spell check has always been set to English US

Note: When I tried to respond via clicking on the Microsoft email sent
notifying me that someone had responded to my question...it would attempt to
get to this site but the screen remained blank.!! The only way I am able to
read your response is I had to log back in to my Microsoft account and look
for my original question

Thank you. When I went to the Microsoft support site previously and typed in
the phrase "Custom Dictionary is full" I got nothing...?

I went into my custom Dictionary..there was only one word in it...!
The word was the one I added yesterday..

It also looks like my spell check files are damanged...because when I run it
now every word is red and underlined.....

Every thing was working fine prior to installing SP3.

I don't think SP3 is fully installed or it corrupted these files in the
process.

I have SP3 donwloaded on my desktop. Would it help if I reinstalled it
again in SAFE MODE?

Or would restore to a previous date solve this problem?

I seem to remember the problems I had with SP2 only took about a month to
fix all the problems created with that download.....

System restore might work. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/291176 for
the recommended way to repair it.
