Custom Field Conversion

I want to create a custom field that uses the duration field in a
calculation. e.g - I want to multiply the duration by a customised number
field. To do this I need to convert the duration field to a number - as my
calculations are not working e.g. 25days should be converted to 25. Can this
be done or is there another way to do the calculation?

Duration is a number already. Just remember that it is stored in
Project as "minutes". So 25 days duration in Project would be stored as
25 days x 8 hours/day x 60 minutes/hour = 12,000. (Assuming that you
have 8 hours per day setup in your calendar). Also remember when you
are creating the custom field to specify it as a "Number" (upper right
corner of the custome field dialogue box).
