Custom Field Display Order in Task Information Dialog Box

I have added a number of custom fields to a project (about 30). Is there a
way to put them in a specific order in the Task Information, Custom Fields
dialog box? I did not enter them in any particular order. They are in some
type of order, but not as desired or expected. I am using Text fields,
Number fields and Cost fields. The current order is:
Text1-Text10
Number1-Number5
Cost1-Cost7
Number6
Number10-Number11
Text11-Text12
If I could even group all of the like categories, I would be half pleased.

The Custom Fields tab is only in Project Professional (I think) and is
usually there to show enterprise custom fields. These are displayed required
first alphabetically then remaining fields alphabetically. There is no known
way to change this sequence.

Actually, I am using MS Project 2007 Standard, which has the custom fields.
While not the answer I was looking for, at least I know to stop looking!
Thanks for the reply.

Hi Mike,

I've just experimented with my Project 2007 Standard version and the
customized fields are shown in alphabetical order. I tried giving the
fields a customized name and they re-orderd alphabetically. I can't think
why yours don't.

Interesting. I installed the "infrastructure update" this morning. I just
looked at my list, and now mine display alphabetically by custom name! That
will work.

Thanks.
