Custom Field "Formula" not working in PWA

We created 3 enterprise outline code and then a custom field to calculate a
value based on the 3 outline codes. We want users to be able to, in PWA on
the Project - Details screen, to be able to select values for the 3
enterprise outline codes. That part works fine. However, we notice then back
on the Project Center "Summary" - the calculated custom field is not actually
doing the calculation. We tried opening one of the project files and then
publishing it and then the calculation appeared correctly in the Project
Center list.

Is there something we are doing wrong? Or will the formula not work unless
we open each project file and publish again to the server?

Hi Amy,

Your suspicions are correct. Project Server will only recalculate and
display the result when a project is published.

The key piece of information here is that Project Server does not calculate
the field values at all; it simply displays them. To cause the calculation
within the Project client, you must use the F9 key to recalc. Publishing
pushes the updated information to Project Web Access.
