Custom Field Names for Enterprise Project Numbers

I am trying to use Enterprise Project Numbers and customize the field names
to display on Project Server yet when they display they retain only their
Enterprise Project Number "x" Name and not the Custom Names. Is there a way
to correct this?

Did you actually create the custom enterprise Project number field in the
Enterprise Global? If so, did you rename the field in the Customize
Enterprise Fields dialog by selecting the field and clicking the Rename
button? When you open a current project, have you pressed the F9 function
key to recalculate the project? After doing so, have you published the
project using Collaborate - Publish - Project Plan (or All Information)?

Have you re-published at least 1 project plan with your new names?

I created a project and published it but then found that for some reason the
project did not update to the server until I first closed it in Microsoft
Project. Once I did that the field names appeared in Server.
