custom field to resource names

hello,
i have created a custom field "Primary contact"
is there a way to link it to the list of Resource names?
maybe turn it into a drop down list?

No you can not link it to the list of Resource names. You can turn it into a
drop down list.
Right click the column header and select "Customize Fields..."
Then click on the "Value List" button.
