Custom Field

I would like to create a custom enterprise task level cost field that
filters out non-IS resources to come up with an IS labor cost. For
example, if I have a business resource and IS resource both working on
a task and both with a Std. Rate of $50/hour and each working 5 hours,
the Cost field shows $500. I'd like an "IS Cost" field that shows the
$250 for the IS resource only. I've gotten a couple suggestions on
alternate ways to get this info, but I'd really like to be able to
create the field. Is this possible? If so, any suggestions on how to
implement it.

Thanks.

Dave:

It's possible, however you'll need to write the code to make it happen. As
you've stated, there are many easier ways to get this information from the
system, but apparently you're rejecting those because the presentation isn't
what you want. So, the short answer is yes, and I hope that you don't expect
someone in the newsgroup to write the code for you.

Creating the custom field would be the best solution for us and no
Gary, I don't expect anyone in this newsgroup to write the code for me.
I posted the question for the same reason it looks like just about
everyone else posts questions here - just hoping for a tip that points
me in the right direction. If it's too complex of a question to give a
high level explanation/answer to other than "yes" or "no" in this
forum, then I understand - just say so.

By the way, your books have been a big help to me!

Thanks.

Thanks. My best advice is to focus on developing your solution by presenting
the data through web parts. When you hit development snags, post your
questions to microsoft.public.project.developer.
